A Great Weekend!

We started our Saturday with the Kid’s Club.  The girls made an ornament that doubled as a gift card holder.  Janet suggested to them that they make their own gift card and suggested some ideas like unloading the dishwasher, walking the dog, or a coupon for making dinner one night.  The girls learned a couple [...]

Happy Jacks!

Our young sewers were here on Saturday and what fun we had making the door hanger.  The girls pieced together strips of orange fabrics to make a pumpkin shaped quilted piece and then, with the heat of an iron, transformed their little pumpkins into cute jack-o-lanterns!  Don’t you just love Steam-a-Seam?!  Claire always knows how [...]

Zip it Up!

The project for the Kids’ Club last weekend was a cute bag with a zipper!  Can you believe it?!  The girls did a terrific job and some thought the bag would be perfect for makeup, pencils, jewelry or whatever.  It’s the perfect gift to make for friends, too.

Summer Sew-In Finale

We sewed like crazy this week and every project turned out beautifully.  It’s amazing to see how far these girls came in 4 days time.  Karen led them through the construction of a sewing basket, a game cartridge (or jewelry) holder, a pocketed bucket (perfect for stowing “stuff”!) and a quilted pencil bag.  We had [...]

Shhh–We’re Sewing!

The summer sew-in girls are back for another 4 days of sewing.  Wow!  It sure gets quiet in here while they’re concentrating.  They finished up their game wallet, although I suspect a few of them will become jewelry totes, and began their bucket organizer.  That project sure has a lot of sewing, so we’re planning [...]

It’s so hard to say “goodbye”

We bid farewell to Bailey today.  Bailey was with our Summer Sew-In group all week, but alas, has to return home to Georgia and will not be with us for our second camp session!  Her grandma treated her to a week of summer sewing; in fact, Bailey and her grandma have finished quite a few [...]

Summer Sew-In!

Here are some photos of our first two days of Summer Sew-In!  We’re on task and really, everyone is doing a fabulous job.  We had fun with decorative stitches today; the girls are using Audrey, Sofia, Grace and two machines from the Choice series, so they have quite a bit of stitch selections!

Sew So Straight!

Our Kid’s Club groups met on Saturday, and the project of the day was sew simple.  But, as most experienced sewers know, keeping your seams straight (when straight really matters) is much harder than it sounds!  So, our little gang did a practice run, creating a greeting card with flag inspired fabrics and card stock.  [...]

Organizing Dad’s Bar-b-q

The Kid’s Club sewers were here again this past Saturday, creating a great project to store Dad’s grilling “stuff”.  This project was challenging, because of the size of the fabric pieces, the number of layers to keep straight (pockets!) and the topstitching required.  Our girls are improving every month and the results are evident in [...]

Kid’s Summer Sew-In

Our monthly Kid’s Club has really taken off, as you can tell from the photos we’ve posted.  Baby Lock has developed a summer sewing program, too, which we’re going to offer for 2 weeks this July!  Session 1 will be Monday through Thursday, July 13th – 16th and Session 2 will be Monday through Thursday, [...]
